10 Worst Influencer Horror Movies – Hit The Dislike Button

Welcome to Ranking Horror. We opened up this week with our list of 10 Social Media Influencer Themed Horror Movies Worth A Like & Subscribe. Today, we are doing the opposite as we check out the 10 Worst Social Media Influencer Horror Movies – Hit The Dislike Button.

Social media influencers are everywhere nowadays. If it wasn’t bad enough that they were all over the internet, they are now even starting to bleed into films and television. Hell, horror directors are having a veritable field day making movies themed around these, usually ultra-obnoxious and annoying, personalities.

The funny thing is, most of these social media influencer themed horror movies are pretty damn awful. Today, we are going to look at the most egregious offenders – the worst social media influencer horror movies ever. We will be going from “least worst” to “absolute garbage.” I wouldn’t recommend any of these movies, but if you are in the mood to watch some shockingly bad horror, why not check a few of them out. Let’s take a look.

RankMovie Title (Year)The Dislike Reason
1#Float (2022)The Absolute Definition of a Turd
2Caviar (2023)Laughable Deepfakes & Conspiracy Nonsense
3Followers (2021)A Cringe-Inducing Found-Footage Mess
4Followers (2022)A Formulaic, Low-Budget Bore
5The Lost Vlog of Ruby Real (2020)Repetitive, Dull & Extremely Low-Effort
The Hall of Shame: A summary of the top 5 most disliked influencer horror films.

10. Clickbait: Unfollowed (2024) – Cheesy but Underrated?

  • Director: Lana Read
  • Cast: Erica Pinkett, Justin Miles
  • Runtime: 92 minutes
  • IMDb Rating: 3.4/10

Why it Ranked: A part of me didn’t want to put this Tubi original on the list because I actually secretly enjoyed it. While many despise it, I think it’s a little underrated. It’s cheesy enough to make you smile, even if the influencer personalities are relatively unbelievable. It’s easily the “best” film on this list, though that really isn’t saying much given the competition.

Synopsis: A group of influencers are tasked with competing against each other in various high-stakes games for a massive grand prize. However, they soon realise that the competition is rigged and their very lives are on the line for the entertainment of a shadowy audience.

Where to Watch: Tubi

9. Dashcam (2021) – The Protagonist from Hell

  • Director: Rob Savage
  • Cast: Annie Hardy, Amer Chadha-Patel
  • Runtime: 77 minutes
  • IMDb Rating: 4.8/10

Why it Ranked: After the brilliance of Host, Rob Savage followed it up with this found-footage disaster. The big problem here is the protagonist, Annie Hardy. Rarely do you see such vitriol directed toward a character; she is loud, obnoxious, and a far right wing conspiracy theorist that makes the film nearly unwatchable for many. She’s essentially a 77-minute headache.

Dashcam (2021)
People really don’t like the protagonist of Dashcam (2021)

Synopsis: A social media personality livestreams a trip to London during the pandemic. After abandoning her friend, she agrees to transport a frail woman for money, only to find herself embroiled in a supernatural nightmare that she continues to broadcast to her increasingly horrified audience.

Where to Watch: Hulu, Amazon (Rent/Buy)

8. #No_Filter (2023) – A High School Bore

  • Director: Michael Dupret
  • Cast: Hannah Margetson, Brahim Hadjij
  • Runtime: 85 minutes
  • IMDb Rating: 4.2/10

Why it Ranked: This film’s biggest sin is that it is just really quite boring. It starts as a slow drama full of unlikable high schoolers having catty relationships. It only picks up slightly when the protagonist’s antics for followers cross a line into slasher territory, but by then, you’ve likely checked your phone five times. It’s a yawn-inducing entry into the influencer sub-genre.

Synopsis: The most popular girl in high school begins to mentally unravel as the lines between her real life and her online persona blur. As she becomes obsessed with a new “no filter” challenge, she discovers that some digital shadows are impossible to erase.

Where to Watch: Tubi, Vudu

7. Skillhouse (2025) – 50 Cent’s Payroll Problems

  • Director: Josh Stolberg
  • Cast: 50 Cent, Bryce Hall
  • Runtime: 94 minutes
  • IMDb Rating: 4.1/10

Why it Ranked: This movie comes from the writer of some of the later (bad) Saw movies, and it shows. It’s just another film following the “group of influencers kidnapped by a madman” theme. The only reason it isn’t lower is that 50 Cent plays a psychopath, and knowing he sued the production because they didn’t pay him adds a layer of real-world hilarity that is more entertaining than the movie itself.

Skillhouse (2025)
Remember, Skillhouse (2025) does feature 50 Cent playing a psychopath

Synopsis: Ten of the world’s top influencers are invited to a lavish mansion to compete for a spot in a new social media collective. They quickly discover they are being filmed for a sick “elimination” game where followers are literally worth their lives.

Where to Watch: Theatrical Release / Amazon (Rent/Buy)

6. Livestream (2025) – Low Effort, High Irritation

  • Director: Todd Sheets
  • Cast: Jane Doe, John Smith
  • Runtime: 82 minutes
  • IMDb Rating: 3.1/10

Why it Ranked: This is a prime example of how low-effort this sub-genre can be. It’s just a group of actors in a single location with a cheap camera, shouting a lot at the screen. It is an irritating movie with almost nothing to redeem it – the acting is poor, the characters are horribly unlikable, and it is hideously predictable. It’s a “zero points” effort for everyone involved.

Synopsis: A group of influencers heads to a supposedly haunted house to livestream a night of paranormal investigation. As they hunt for ghosts to boost their viewer count, they find that the entities in the house are very real and very tired of being recorded.

Where to Watch: Tubi, Vimeo on Demand

🚩 How to Spot a “Tubi Turd”

We all love a freebie, but Tubi’s horror section is a minefield of low-effort garbage. Before you waste 90 minutes of your life, look out for these three red flags that scream “unwatchable”:

  • 🏷️ The “Hashtag” Title: If the movie title starts with a # (e.g., #Float, #No_Filter), it’s almost certainly trying to mask a lack of plot with “trendy” branding. In the world of horror, the hashtag is usually shorthand for “we couldn’t afford a script”.
  • 🖼️ The AI-Generated Poster: Take a close look at the thumbnail. Are the characters’ fingers a bit… melty? Does the lighting make no sense? If they didn’t care enough to hire a real graphic designer, they definitely didn’t care enough to hire a decent director.
  • The “Group of Influencers” Synopsis: If the description begins with “A group of social media influencers head to a [cabin/river/haunted house]…” close the tab. This is the ultimate red flag for a movie featuring obnoxious characters, terrible dialogue, and zero scares.

Trust your gut! If the trailer features more screaming than actual plot, it’s time to hit the back button and find something with an actual budget.

5. The Lost Vlog of Ruby Real (2020) – D-Grade Amateurism

  • Director: Izzy Lee
  • Cast: Ruby Rose, Sam Miller
  • Runtime: 72 minutes
  • IMDb Rating: 2.9/10

Why it Ranked: This would be passable if it were a high school media project, but as a film on actual streaming services? Unforgivable. It feels like it was shot in a single afternoon. The scares are minimal, and the massive amounts of repetition in the latter half make it an incredibly dull experience. There are far too many scenes of people just sitting in the woods doing absolutely nothing.

The Lost Vlog of Ruby Real (2020)
There are a lot of scenes featuring people sitting and doing nothing in The Last Vlog of Ruby Rose (2020)

Synopsis: Three influencers venture into a forbidden forest to debunk a local urban legend for their vlog. As they get lost among the trees, they begin to find strange symbols and realize that the legend they were trying to disprove is very, very real.

Where to Watch: Tubi

4. Fatal Influence: Like. Follow. Survive. (2022) – A Streaming Steamer

  • Director: Mark DeCaterina
  • Cast: John Glover, Mackenzie Westmore
  • Runtime: 94 minutes
  • IMDb Rating: 3.0/10

Why it Ranked: Horror filmmakers should set a rule: the phrase “group of social media influencers” in a plot is grounds for ripping it up without hesitation. This is a low-budget mess with a played-out story and a terrible name. Even the presence of John Glover can’t save this. It took two directors to squeeze out this steaming pile of a horror movie – which is honestly a bit worrying.

Synopsis: A group of influencers are lured to a remote location under the guise of an exclusive networking event. Once there, they are forced to participate in a series of social-media-themed challenges where “unfollowing” means a gruesome death.

Where to Watch: Amazon (Rent/Buy), Vudu

3. Followers (2021) – Cringe-Inducing Trash

  • Director: Marcus Harben
  • Cast: Harry Jarvis, Loreece Harrison
  • Runtime: 82 minutes
  • IMDb Rating: 3.8/10

Why it Ranked: This movie is horrible. Lead Harry Jarvis feels ill-placed as an influencer, and the film is so poorly made that it’s almost unwatchable. The writing is remedial, there are no scares, and it is frequently cringe-inducing. There is a scene where a ghost dances on a table surrounded by neon lights and trance music – seriously, it is one of the worst horror movie moments I have ever witnessed.

Followers (2021)
Jonty is definitely a douche but he is not a believable influencer – Followers (2021)

Synopsis: A social media star moves into a new house with a group of flatmates to document their lives. They soon realize the house is haunted by a spirit that wants its own share of the spotlight, leading to a series of bizarre and unintentionally funny supernatural events.

Where to Watch: Amazon (Rent/Buy), Apple TV (Rent/Buy)

2. Caviar (2023) – A Conspiracy of Crap

  • Director: Brenda Lee
  • Cast: Betsey Brown, Albie Selznick
  • Runtime: 85 minutes
  • IMDb Rating: 3.5/10

Why it Ranked: I absolutely hate this movie. It’s a weird attempt to tap into conspiracy theory culture that is absolutely laughable in parts. The use of terrible deepfakes of political figures is awkward, and the story makes virtually no sense. Unless you are really into the whole “lack of trust in the average person” thing, you will seriously regret wasting your time on this stinker.

Synopsis: An aspiring influencer begins investigating a series of shadowy government experiments after her brother dies. As she digs deeper, she finds herself trapped in a world of misinformation, lizard people, and high-tech brainwashing that is more confusing than scary.

Where to Watch: Amazon (Rent/Buy), Tubi

1. #Float (2022) – The Ultimate Unfollow

  • Director: Zac Locke
  • Cast: Kaya Coleman, Ophelia Krell
  • Runtime: 76 minutes
  • IMDb Rating: 2.6/10

Why it Ranked: This is the worst movie on the list by far. If a horror movie has a “#” in the title, there is a near 100% chance it sucks. The acting is atrocious, the script is horrendous (AI could do better), and the characters are horribly unlikable. It owns a pitiful user score of 2.6 on IMDb, and honestly, that feels generous. Director Zac Locke curled this turd out and I had the misfortune of stepping in it so you don’t have to. Skip it at all costs.

Float (2022)
Not pictured: Terrible acting, awful plot, and horrendous character decisions.

Synopsis: An aspiring vlogger and her friends head to a river for an annual float trip. After one of them goes missing, they realize they are being hunted by a supernatural force in the water – though the real horror is having to listen to their dialogue for 76 minutes.

Where to Watch: Amazon (Rent/Buy), Apple TV (Rent/Buy)
